Why is my custom domain offline?

Short answer
Custom domains usually go offline because of a missing or changed DNS record, a certificate that hasn't issued yet, or the registrar's records pointing somewhere else — recheck the domain settings and your DNS provider.
Check DNS first
Most "offline" custom domains are a DNS problem, not a Lovable problem:
- Open your project's domain settings and compare the required records (A/CNAME) against what's actually set at your registrar or DNS provider.
- DNS changes can take time to propagate — up to 24-48 hours in rare cases, though usually much faster.
- Confirm you haven't got conflicting records (e.g. an old A record left over from a previous host) pointing the domain elsewhere.
Certificate issues
SSL certificates are issued automatically once DNS is correctly pointed. If DNS was only just fixed, give it time before assuming something is broken.
Other causes
- The domain was connected to a different project or was disconnected during a workspace/project change.
- The registrar requires verification steps (e.g. TXT record) that weren't completed.
- The publish itself failed — an offline domain sometimes just means there's no successful published build behind it. Confirm the project actually publishes (see "why won't my Lovable project publish").
Steps to fix
- Re-open custom domain settings in Lovable and re-check the exact records shown.
- Use a DNS lookup tool (e.g.
digor an online checker) to confirm what's actually live. - Remove and re-add the domain if records look correct but it's still not resolving after a day.
- Republish the project once DNS is confirmed correct.
What usually goes wrong
People edit DNS at the registrar but check the domain minutes later and assume it failed — propagation just needs time. Also common: a domain bought through one registrar has nameservers actually managed elsewhere (e.g. via a page builder), so the records get added in the wrong place. Confirm where your DNS is actually managed before editing records.
