How do I connect Google Search Console?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Use Lovable's Google Search Console integration to verify your domain and manage search data directly from chat, or verify manually by adding the DNS/HTML verification record Google provides.

What Google Search Console does

Search Console is Google's free tool for monitoring how your site performs in search: which queries bring traffic, which pages are indexed, crawl errors and manual actions. Connecting it is a prerequisite for submitting a sitemap for review (see how do I submit my Lovable sitemap to Google).

Connecting it via Lovable

Lovable has a dedicated Google Search Console integration that lets you verify your domain, submit sitemaps, read search analytics and ask SEO questions directly in chat. Ask:

Connect this project to Google Search Console and verify my domain.

Follow the authentication flow Lovable presents — this typically walks you through granting access to your Google account and confirming domain ownership.

Manual verification (if not using the integration)

  1. Go to search.google.com/search-console and add your property (domain or URL-prefix).
  2. Choose a verification method — DNS TXT record (recommended for domain properties) or an HTML tag/file for URL-prefix properties.
  3. For DNS verification, add the TXT record Google gives you at your domain registrar (the same place you manage your other DNS records for Lovable).
  4. For HTML tag verification, ask Lovable to add the meta tag Google provides to your page head.
  5. Click verify in Search Console once the record/tag is live.

What usually goes wrong

  • Verifying the wrong property type — a www. and non-www. version, or http vs https, can be treated as separate properties; verify the domain property to cover all variants at once.
  • DNS TXT record added but not yet propagated — wait and retry rather than assuming it failed.
  • Verifying once but never coming back to check crawl errors or submit updated sitemaps.
