How do I add schema markup?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Ask Lovable to add JSON-LD structured data (schema.org markup) relevant to your page type — e.g. Organization, Product, Article or FAQ — inserted as a script tag in the page head.
What schema markup is for
Structured data (usually written as JSON-LD) tells search engines explicitly what a page represents — a product with a price, an article with an author, a business with opening hours, an FAQ with questions and answers. It can unlock rich results (star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, price info) in Google search.
How to add it
Add JSON-LD schema markup for [Organization / Product / Article / FAQPage] to this page, including [name, price, description, etc.], inserted in the page head.
A minimal example for a business:
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization",
"name": "Acme Studio",
"url": "https://yourdomain.com"
}
</script>
Choosing the right type
| Page type | Schema type |
|---|---|
| Homepage/business info | Organization or LocalBusiness |
| Product page | Product (with offers for price) |
| Blog post | Article or BlogPosting |
| FAQ page | FAQPage |
| Recipe, event, review | Recipe, Event, Review respectively |
Verifying it
After publishing, test the live URL with Google's Rich Results Test (search.google.com/test/rich-results) to confirm the markup is valid and eligible for rich results — don't assume it's correct just because it renders without errors.
What usually goes wrong
- Schema data that doesn't match the visible page content (e.g. a price in schema that differs from what's shown) — Google can penalise this as misleading markup.
- Using the wrong
@typefor the content, which means it's ignored rather than enhancing results. - Copy-pasting the same Organization schema onto every single page instead of adding page-specific types (Product, Article) where relevant.
