How do I use Lovable's Semrush integration?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Connect Semrush from your project's Integrations to pull live keyword research, domain analytics and backlink data into Lovable, either to inform SEO decisions or to embed that data inside the app you're building.

Two different uses

Lovable's Semrush connector serves two purposes, and it's worth knowing which one you need:

  1. SEO research for your own site — use Semrush data (via the SEO/AI search feature or a Semrush account) to find keywords and check competitors while deciding what to write.
  2. Embedding Semrush data inside an app you're building — the Semrush connector lets your Lovable app call Semrush's API to show keyword, domain or backlink data to its own users (e.g. you're building an SEO tool).

Connecting it

  1. Open your project and go to the integrations/connectors area.
  2. Choose Semrush and authorise/connect your Semrush account (a Semrush account with API access may be required, depending on what data you want).
  3. Ask Lovable what you want to do with the connection — research your own domain, or wire the data into a feature of your app.

Connect Semrush to this project and pull keyword volume and difficulty data for these five keywords: [list].

For your own site's SEO

If you just want competitor and keyword research to write better copy, you don't need to build anything — ask Lovable to use the connected Semrush data as part of an SEO review, rather than building a custom dashboard.

What usually goes wrong

  • Expecting the connector to auto-improve your rankings — it supplies data; you (or Lovable, on your instruction) still have to act on it.
  • Confusing "research my own site's SEO" with "build a Semrush-powered feature into my app" — they use the same connector but need very different prompts.
  • API/data limits on your Semrush plan can restrict how much data you can pull; check your Semrush account tier if requests fail.
