How do I change the website title?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Ask Lovable to change the page title, or edit the <title> tag in index.html directly in the Code editor — this is the text shown in the browser tab and search results.

What the "website title" actually controls

The title is the text in the <title> tag of your HTML. It shows in:

  • The browser tab.
  • Bookmarks.
  • The clickable headline Google shows in search results (unless overridden per-page).

How to change it

Fastest — ask in chat:

Change the site title to "Acme Studio — Custom Furniture" in the browser tab and page metadata.

Manually in Code:

  1. Open Code and find index.html at the project root (or the relevant route file if you're on a multi-page/TanStack Start project with per-page titles).
  2. Edit the text inside <title>...</title>.
  3. If your project sets titles dynamically per route (common for multi-page apps), you may need to update a shared layout or a per-page title component instead of a single static tag — ask Lovable to find where titles are set if you're not sure.
  4. Publish and check the browser tab and a fresh search-engine preview.

Title vs meta title

"Website title" and "meta title" refer to the same <title> tag in most contexts — see how do I change meta titles if you need different titles per page rather than one site-wide title.

What usually goes wrong

  • Changing the title in one place but the site has multiple routes each setting their own title, so only the homepage updates.
  • Titles over ~60 characters get truncated in Google's results — keep it concise and put the most important words first.
  • Forgetting to publish, so the old title still shows live even though the editor looks correct.
