What should I put in my first Lovable prompt?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Say what the product is, who it is for, which pages it needs, and how it should feel — then stop. Detail on one page beats a shopping list of twelve features.
A template that works
Build a [type of site] for [audience]. The goal is [primary action a visitor takes].
Pages: [list].
Visual direction: [two or three adjectives], [colour direction], [type direction]. Avoid [what you dislike].
Start with the home page only. I will add the rest afterwards.
Why "start with the home page only" matters
The first build sets the design system every later page inherits. Keeping scope small on prompt one means you can correct the direction cheaply, before it is copied across ten pages.
Include if you have them
- Brand colours as hex codes
- Font names
- Two reference sites, with a note on what you like about each
- Your logo, attached to the prompt
Leave out of prompt one
- Databases, logins and payments
- Admin dashboards
- Every page in the site map
- Fine copy edits
Those are prompts three through thirty.
