How do I start a new project in Lovable?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Open Lovable, describe the project in your first prompt, and it scaffolds a running app immediately — then refine it prompt by prompt.
The steps
- Sign in and start a new project.
- Write a first prompt describing the product, audience, pages and visual direction.
- Wait for the first build and open the preview.
- Fix the direction immediately if the look is wrong — do not build ten pages on a design you dislike.
- Add pages and features one prompt at a time.
- Publish, then connect a domain when you are ready.
Prepare before you prompt
Five minutes of preparation saves an hour of correction:
- One sentence on what the product does and who it is for
- The list of pages
- Brand colours and fonts, if you have them
- Your logo file
- Two or three reference sites whose style you admire
First-hour rules
- Get the design system right before the content volume grows.
- Publish on day one so you always have a live baseline.
- Bookmark a version whenever the project is in a good state.
