Does Lovable provide SSL?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Yes. Every Lovable-published site gets HTTPS automatically, including the free lovable.app subdomain and any custom domain you connect through Lovable.
SSL is on by default
Lovable provisions and renews an SSL certificate for every published project automatically. You don't configure anything — it applies to:
- The free
yourproject.lovable.appsubdomain. - Any custom domain you connect through Settings → Domains.
What you need to do
Nothing for the certificate itself. If you're connecting your own domain, you still need to:
- Buy or already own the domain.
- Add the DNS records Lovable gives you (usually an A record and a CNAME, or the equivalent at your registrar).
- Wait for DNS to propagate — this can take a few minutes to a few hours.
Once the domain verifies, Lovable issues the certificate and your site serves over https:// with no mixed-content warnings.
What usually goes wrong
- "Not secure" warning right after connecting a domain — this is normal for the first stretch while DNS propagates and the certificate issues. Give it time before assuming something is broken.
- Certificate stuck pending — double-check the DNS records match exactly what Lovable's domain panel shows; a typo in the CNAME target is the most common cause.
- Mixed content on custom code — if you've hardcoded
http://links to external assets inside your app, the padlock can still show warnings even though your own domain is secure. Fix those links tohttps://.
If your registrar's DNS panel is confusing, ask Lovable in chat what to check next, or hand it to PromptSites.com if you're stuck for more than a day.
