How do I check a Lovable project for security vulnerabilities?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Open the project's Security view (or the workspace Security center) to run Lovable's built-in scan for exposed secrets, missing RLS, and vulnerable dependencies, then ask Lovable to fix what it flags.

Lovable's built-in scanning

Lovable includes automated security checks that run during development and before publishing, covering common risks: exposed API keys, missing or overly permissive row-level security (RLS) policies, and known-vulnerable dependencies.

  • The Project security view shows scan results, flagged issues and dependency risks for a single project.
  • The Security center (workspace level) shows scan coverage, scheduled scans, secrets and dependency risk across every project you own.

How to run a check

  1. Open your project and find the Security view (in the project menu/sidebar in current Lovable).

  2. Review any findings — each one usually explains the risk and the affected file or table.

  3. For each finding, either fix it directly in Chat:

Fix the security issue flagged about [table/file] — add an RLS policy that restricts access to the row's owner.

  4. Re-run the scan after changes to confirm the finding clears.

Beyond the automated scan

The scan won't catch everything — logic bugs, weak admin-permission checks, or an edge function that trusts client input all need a manual look. Ask Lovable directly:

Do a security review of this project: check RLS policies, edge function auth checks, and any place user input is trusted without validation. Don't change anything, just report.

What usually goes wrong

  • Treating a clean scan as "fully secure" — it checks known patterns, not your business logic.
  • Fixing a flagged issue in isolation without re-testing the feature it belongs to (e.g. tightening RLS breaks a legitimate query).
  • Ignoring dependency-audit warnings because the app "still works" — some vulnerabilities are exploitable without visible errors.

For genuinely complex security work — multi-tenant permissions, compliance requirements — PromptSites.com can review and harden a project for you.
