How do I connect Resend to Lovable?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Open the Resend integration in Lovable (or ask in chat to connect Resend), authorise your Resend account, then prompt Lovable to use it for whatever emails you need sent.
Connect the integration
Lovable has a native Resend connector. In the workspace, find Resend under integrations (or simply ask in chat), and connect your Resend account — this stores your API key server-side, so it's never exposed in front-end code.
Connect Resend to this project.
If you don't have a Resend account yet, you'll need to create one first at resend.com — it's a separate service from Lovable, not something Lovable operates for you.
Verify a sending domain
Resend's test/sandbox sending only reaches limited addresses. To send to real customers from your own address (e.g. hello@yourdomain.com), verify your domain in Resend and add the DNS records it gives you. See how do I use my own email domain.
Ask for the actual email logic
Connecting the integration alone doesn't send anything — describe what should trigger an email:
Using Resend, send me an email whenever the contact form is submitted, with the submitted details in the body.
Lovable writes a server function that calls the Resend API using the stored key.
What usually goes wrong
- Expecting emails to work before domain verification: unverified domains are heavily restricted; test addresses only reach the Resend account owner.
- Putting the API key in front-end code: this should never happen through the proper connector flow — if you see the key appear in a component, ask Lovable to move it server-side immediately.
- Confusing Resend account limits with Lovable credits: Resend has its own sending limits and pricing, separate from Lovable's credit system — check Resend's own dashboard for that.
Once connected, most email features (notifications, confirmations, digests) are just a matter of describing the trigger and content to Lovable.
