How do I make my Lovable website mobile-friendly?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Lovable's Tailwind output is responsive by default, but you still need to explicitly review and prompt fixes at mobile breakpoints — ask Lovable to check every page in a mobile viewport and fix overflow, tap targets and stacking order.

Responsive by default, not by guarantee

Lovable generates Tailwind CSS, which supports responsive breakpoints (sm:, md:, lg:) out of the box, and most generated layouts stack sensibly on narrow screens. But complex layouts — multi-column grids, fixed-width elements, wide tables — often need explicit mobile handling that isn't automatic.

Review process

  1. In Preview, switch to the mobile viewport (or resize the preview pane narrow) for every page, not just the homepage.
  2. Check for: horizontal scrolling, overlapping text, buttons that overflow their container, images that don't scale, nav that doesn't collapse.
  3. Report specific issues rather than "fix mobile":

On mobile, the pricing cards overflow horizontally and the nav bar doesn't collapse into a menu. Stack the pricing cards vertically below 768px and add a mobile hamburger menu.

Common fixes to ask for

  • Stack multi-column layouts to a single column below md: breakpoint.
  • Add a mobile nav — see /questions/how-do-i-make-a-mobile-menu-in-lovable.
  • Increase tap target size for buttons/links (minimum ~44px height) on touch devices.
  • Reduce font sizes and padding proportionally for small screens rather than shrinking everything uniformly.
  • Fix tables — see /questions/how-do-i-fix-tables-on-mobile.

Test on a real device

Preview in the editor is a good first pass, but test the published site on an actual phone before calling it done — some issues (tap target size, keyboard behaviour on forms) only show up on real touch hardware.

What usually goes wrong

  • Fixing mobile once and then adding new sections later that aren't checked against mobile — make mobile review part of every new-section prompt.
  • Fixed pixel widths (w-[800px]) instead of responsive units cause horizontal scroll — ask Lovable to replace fixed widths with responsive Tailwind classes.
  • If your site was mostly built in one long session and mobile was never checked, a dedicated mobile-audit prompt covering every page is worth doing before publishing.
