How do I improve the design of a Lovable website?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Audit one page at a time in Preview, fix typography/colour/spacing consistency first, then use the preview toolbar to select and adjust individual elements rather than re-prompting the whole page.

Start with an audit, not a rebuild

Open Preview and look at the site the way a visitor would: hero, then scroll down. Note what's inconsistent — mismatched button sizes, uneven spacing, competing fonts, low-contrast text. Small inconsistencies read as "unfinished" far more than any single bad choice.

Fix in this order

  1. Typography — one heading font, one body font, a consistent scale (e.g. h1/h2/h3 sizes defined once, not per page).
  2. Colour — a small palette (background, text, 1-2 accents) applied consistently, not different button colours per section.
  3. Spacing — consistent padding between sections; see /questions/how-do-i-fix-spacing-problems-in-lovable.
  4. Hierarchy — make sure the most important action (usually a CTA) is visually dominant, not competing with secondary links.

Use the preview toolbar for targeted fixes

The preview toolbar lets you click an element and comment directly on it ("make this button smaller and move it under the heading") instead of describing its location in the chat. This is far more reliable than a full-page prompt when you're tweaking, not rebuilding.

Select the pricing card section and say: increase spacing between cards to 24px, align all card headings to the same baseline, use the same button style as the hero CTA.

Keep brand rules persistent

Put your palette, fonts and spacing rules into Project knowledge so Lovable applies them automatically to new sections instead of drifting back to defaults.

What usually goes wrong

  • Re-prompting "make it look nicer" repeatedly produces random changes rather than convergence — be specific about what's wrong.
  • Fixing design on one page while adding new pages that don't inherit the same rules. Check every new page against the same checklist.
  • If you've iterated a lot and the codebase has become messy or inconsistent under the hood, a fresh design pass from PromptSites.com is often faster than more prompting.
