How do I check for broken links?
Last checked 31 Aug 2026
Short answer
Click through every nav item, footer link and CTA yourself, or ask Lovable to list every link on the site so you can verify each one resolves before launch.
How to check
Manually click through every item in the header nav, footer, and any in-page CTAs — this alone catches most issues on a typical marketing site.
Ask Lovable to list all links for you as a starting checklist:
List every internal and external link used across the site's pages, including the footer and nav, so I can check each one resolves correctly.
Check external links open correctly and, where sensible, in a new tab (
target="_blank"withrel="noopener").Check anchors/section links (e.g. "#pricing") actually scroll to the right section.
Recheck after connecting a custom domain — links that were relative and fine before can break if something was hardcoded to the old
.lovable.apppreview URL.Consider a free online broken-link checker against the published domain for a final automated pass.
What usually goes wrong
- A link to a page that got renamed or removed during development, left pointing at the old route.
- Legal pages (privacy policy, terms) linked in the footer but never actually created — a common launch-day gap.
- External links (social profiles, partner sites) copy-pasted with a typo.
- Hardcoded absolute URLs to the Lovable preview domain instead of relative paths, which break once the custom domain goes live.
