Can I host Lovable code somewhere else?

Last checked 31 Aug 2026

Short answer

Yes. You can download your project's code or sync it to GitHub via Git sync, then deploy it to any host that supports a Node/Vite React app (Vercel, Netlify, your own server, and so on).

Your code, your hosting choice

Lovable's own Publish button is the fastest path to a live URL on Lovable's infrastructure, plus a custom domain if you want one. But you're not locked in: you own the code and AI output, and you can take it elsewhere.

Two ways to get the code out

  • Download: export a zip of the current project from the Code tab.
  • Git sync: connect GitHub (or GitLab) for continuous two-way sync, so every change in Lovable lands in your repo automatically.

Deploying elsewhere

  1. Pull the repo (or unzip the download) locally.
  2. Install dependencies with your usual package manager.
  3. Build it (vite build, or the relevant TanStack Start build command if your project uses that stack).
  4. Deploy the output to Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or your own infrastructure.

What doesn't travel automatically

  • If you're using Lovable Cloud, that's a Supabase backend managed by Lovable — moving hosting doesn't move the backend. You'd need to connect your own Supabase project (or another backend) and update environment variables/connection details.
  • Any AI features built on Lovable's built-in AI Gateway would need their own key/provider setup outside Lovable.
  • Edge/server functions tied to Lovable Cloud need reimplementing on your new backend if you migrate away from it entirely.

Practical trade-off

Option Effort Best for
Publish (Lovable) Lowest Fastest launch, simplest ongoing edits
Git sync + external host Medium Custom CI/CD, existing infra, team review process
Full export, no sync Highest One-off handoff, ending active Lovable use

If you're planning a full migration and want it done without breaking auth or data, PromptSites.com handles that kind of handoff regularly.
